I'm linking because it would just take too damn long to retype. Someone over in ohnotheydidnt compiled a list of objectionable remakes in the works.

I'm not saying I want to kill Rob Zombie, I just don't want him to be alive anymore.

Remaking C.H.U.D. is just not okay.

George C. Scott is rolling over in his grave. I don't care how much you like del Toro as a director, this is appalling.

Battle Royale remake might be on hold (I hope) [01 May 2007|04:07pm]

merry_rogue
As most of you know, the producers of such cinematic masterpieces as 2 Fast 2 Furious and I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer were planning on making a remake to BR. Apparently the recent university shooting might have shelved it for good (or at least until public apathy sets in).

What I don't understand is why the article keeps billing it as a video game.

The Hitcher: REMADE.

I don't suggest wasting your hard earned dollars on this one. The made for TV sequel is better. Yes, it's that bad.

Hitcher - Rutger Hauer + Bimbo = P.O.S.

I'm just going to believe that the real reason China banned The Departed was that it was simply too big an insult to the highly popular Hong Kong original, Infernal Affairs.

I knew they'd try to do THIS. Let's all cross our fingers that the comment "possibly shelved" is both true and permanent.

Edit: Also, (because I'm just watching it now) Andrea Martin should be ashamed - and possibly beaten severely - for having any part in the travesty that is the Black Christmas remake. I hope everyone is very proud of themselves for taking an awesome film and making it stupid and common.

Please Clive! Say it ain't so! [21 Oct 2006|02:40pm]

It's been over a month since anyone's posted here, so I thought I'd break the silence. I came across more wonderful news while browsing today and I thought I'd share it with all of you. I found out that there is going to be a remake of the original Hellraiser. As if that alone wasn't bad enough, Clive Barker himself is interested in working on it! And just to add salt to the wound, the Weinsteins are the ones that are behind this wonderful idea. If you want to read more about this, click here.

H.G. Lewis Remakes [15 Sep 2006|01:17pm]

comeinandburn
[ mood | hopeful ]

We all know about the remake of Two Thousand Maniacs and you've probably already heard about the plans to remake The Wizard Of Gore, but I've been hearing word of yet another remake of a classic H.G. Lewis film on the chopping board - anyone know which one this could be? Strange how they seem to be staying clear of Blood Feast - but damn glad they are!! H.G. Lewis happens to be my favorite horror director, so this is particularly cringe-worthy for me. Luckily on the more positive side, I've also heard about H.G. Lewis working on a new ORIGINAL film! Very good news indeed!!

In other news on the more positive side - has everyone heard about Diary Of The Dead - the new INDEPENDENT Romero zombie film? This is very exciting news for me as I think a lot of people felt that the big budget style of Land Of The Dead really spoiled the atmosphere of the film and limited the potential. Let's hope this is the beginning of the masters reclaiming the screens!

KEEP SCREEN DEATH ORIGINAL - KILL THE REMAKE!!

Last House On The Left [18 Aug 2006|12:04pm]

From Creature-Corner.com

While we already dropped the bad news that a remake of Last House on the Left was in talks, but it's been finally made official- Rogue Pictures is making the film. Wes Craven, Marianne Maddalena and Sean S. Cunningham are producing... and usually that would be a good sign but let's not forget what happened with the Hills remake...

No word on potential director or stars, but it's going to start filming the beginning on 2007.

Day of the Dead Remake. [21 Jul 2006|02:48pm]

pendamuse
[ mood | aggravated ]

From Esplatter.com

July 11, 2006 -- Two big news pieces on the latest big budget zombie film to come out of Hollywood -- and this one appears to have a big budget. BlackFilm reports: "On the heels on www.bloody-disgusting.com reporting that Ving Rhames and Mira Sorvino are in "Day of the Dead", the remake of the classic horror film by George Romero, blackfilm.com has confirmed through Millennium Films that while Rhames is definitely in the film, but Sorvino is NOT, it's Mean Suvari. Besides Rhames and Suvari, the cast include Michael Welch, Annalynne McCord, Stark Sands, and Nick Cannon. Steve Miner (Halloween H20, Friday the 13th, Part 2, 3D) will direct the film. Jeffrey Reddick wrote the screenplay. In the original, Day of the Dead dealt with the zombie assault on a military establishment, satirizing the military mindset in the process. The remake could be different as "Dawn of the Dead" was a few years ago."

Rhames has apparently joined the cast, to link the film to the "Dawn of the Dead" remake from a few years back. Word is he may be playing a Bub-like character this time around. All the same, expect running zombies in this one. Meanwhile, the truth of this report may have been hinted at by screenwriter Jeffrey Reddick, who told Fangoria: "The official start date for principal photography on 'Day of the Dead' has been set for July 23. Everyone involved is extremely excited about the project. They're in the process of casting as we speak. Millennium and Emmet/Furla Films will be announcing the cast soon, and they've landed some really great, high-profile names for the film."...

Why...why must they bother?

The Host [20 Jul 2006|01:57pm]

synystershadows
[ mood | annoyed ]

I just found out that the Korean monster flick The Host is already in talks to be remade. Here's a film that hasn't even seen the light of day here in the U.S. (actually I think it had its international premiere at the recent Cannes Film Festival) and Hollywood's already snatching up the rights to it. Sad times indeed. Read more about it here...

Y'all probably know about this already but it looks like there's a remake of Halloween being done by Rob Zombie. Given the pile of crap that was House of 1000 Corpses, I wouldn't expect much.

Here's a link to the Halloween site for an IV
